Urban Romanticism

An atmospheric townhouse garden in De Beauvoir, London.

Within a Grade II listed London setting, this garden is being shaped to create a distinctly romantic and escapist atmosphere, while remaining rooted in the character of the place. Taking cues from the Arts and Crafts tradition, and particularly the layered vitality of Sissinghurst, the design explores how materials, lighting and planting can give the garden a sense of craft, richness and creative life. The aim is for it to feel transporting without becoming theatrical — a private world with its own character, but one that still belongs naturally to its setting.
